Transgender Day of Remembrance
Commemorated during the week of November 20th, Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) brings awareness and visibility to the lives lost to transphobia and transphobic violence towards those who identify as or are perceived as transgender. At KSU, GLBTIQ Student Programs and Kennesaw Pride Alliance partner to create a memorial display at the Student Center terrace out of flags. Each flag represents a life lost to violence within the US since 1991. We chose 1991 because this was the first year of LGBTQ activism at KSU. While the flags individually represent lives lost, collectively they create a large transgender pride flag that can be seen from across campus.
