The TRANScend Clothing Closet
The TRANScend Clothing Closet is an initiative to provide Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Nonconforming
students a more comfortable and accessible way to shop for clothing that fits their
stylistic needs. The TRANScend Clothing Closet is supported by donations from the KSU Community. The primary focus
of the TRANScend Clothing Closet is to meet the needs of students who identify across the transgender
The Clothing Closet strengthens community at KSU by fostering students' freedom to authentically express one's self through fashion. The TRANScend Clothing Closet is available to all KSU students in need at no cost.
The Clothing Closet will be available on a Pop-up Shop Schedule, which can be accessed on our site page or at the front desk of the LGBTQ Resource Center.

Why is the TRANScend Clothing Closet important?
The Clothing Closet is an initiative that gives transgender, genderfluid, gender non-conforming, and non-binary students access to a variety of clothes that can help them with transitioning, easing dysphoria, and accessing clothing they cannot or do not feel comfortable buying in public.
When can I donate?
Donation Drives are hosted during the first full week of each month, but donations can be accepted outside Donation Drives.
Spring 2018 Donation Drive dates:
- February 5th-9th
- March 5th-9th
- May 7th-11th
Donations can be dropped off in the LGBTQ Resource Center during normal business hours (8:00AM-5:00PM, M-F). The LGBTQ Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Kennesaw Campus Student Center in Suite 253.
What can I donate?
The TRANScend clothing closet accepts new and used clothing, shoes, and accessories.
In order for donations to be accepted, they must be:
- Clean and in good repair, not tears or stains
- Recently washed
We do not accept donations of intimate items, such as:
Please note: Exceptions can be made if items are new and in original packaging.
We recommend donations be appropriate for the current season, such as donating fall/winter clothes during Fall semester and spring/summer clothes during Spring semester. We also encourage donations of business and formal attire.
When is the TRANScend Clothing Closet open for shopping?
The TRANScend Clothing Closet Pop-Up Shop is available for shopping on the third Wednesday of each month. The TRANScend Clothing Closet is open from 10:00AM-3:30PM on Pop-Up Shop Days.
The Pop-Up Shop Days for Spring Semester 2018 are:
- February 21st
- March 21st
- April 18th
Where is the Clothing Closet?The Clothing Closet is located inside of the LGBTQ Resource Center and can be accessed during the Pop-Up Shop days listed above. The LGBTQ Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Kennesaw Campus Student Center in Suite 253.
How many items can a student have from the TRANScend Clothing Closet?
The way the TRANScend Clothing Closet works is simple: take whatever you need! The Clothing Closet is here for you and your needs. We do not track the number of items a student chooses to take with them.
Please note: We do recommend returning business and/or formal attire when you no longer need them so that every student can take advantage of them for things like job interviews.
Where can I try on clothes from the TRANScend Clothing Closet?On Pop-Up Shop days a private dressing room space will be made available.
What is TRANScend?
TRANScend is a community group where transgender and gender non-conforming students in all stages of transition can come together to talk about issues they may be facing or that are facing the transgender and gender non-conforming communities, to find help understanding if transition is right for them, and to have a sense community.
