The LGBTQ Resource Center is a community space for students to gather, create new friendships, study, and gain access to resources. Within the Center, students are presented with opportunities to learn about various aspects of queer identity and how queer identity intersects with other aspects of identity they carry.
The Resource Center provides students with access to a library collection of over 500 titles, a computer lab, professional and student staff, and informational pamphlets covering topics of importance to the LGBTQ community. In addition to these services, the Center also hosts weekly and monthly programming, including Queer Film Fridays, What's the Tea?, and Campus Connections.

Located in the Student Affairs Suite of the Marietta Campus Student Center, this space provides diversity related services and programs for students on the Marietta Campus.
Resource Center Agreements & Expectations
In order to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for those who use the Resource Center, students and staff worked together to develop the follow set of agreements and expectations for those who utilize the Resource Center:
The Resource Center is a community space
- While we may operate in a confined space, please be mindful that the center is, in actuality, a communal space. This means being aware when intimate conversations may not be appropriate in a public space.
- Please clean up after yourself when you leave the Center.
Respect the Resource Center
- This means respecting the individuals, missions, and goals of the office.
- Do not engage in conversations about people who are not in the room. If the conversation is not appropriate when they are here, it is certainly not appropriate when they are not.
- Any concerns about a member of the Resource Center community should be addressed with the person in question or discussed with a LGBTQ Center staff person.
Respect the identities of others
- Do not challenge others on the terms they use to define themselves. They know themselves better than you do.
- Use the expressed names, pronouns, and identity terms a person has shared with the Center. The Pronouns Matter cards are meant to aid in this process, please use them.
Avoid speaking in or perpetuating generalizations of identity groups
- No group exists or operates within a monolithic space. Every identity group is comprised of a diverse population of people with a myriad of experiences and understandings. Speaking in generalizations erases the complexity of experiences within communities.
Do not assume the various identities of others
- Every person has the right to self-identify their experiences, labels, or identity terms. By assigning labels to others, we run the risk of conflating behavior with identity.
Avoid speaking for the experiences of others
- Allow others to speak from themselves. This does not mean you should not be an ally or correct misconceptions; it does mean you cannot speak as if it were your own experience.
Understand that good intentions do not erase negative impacts
- Good intentions only go so far; be mindful of the potential/actual impact of the comments we make.
Do not expect others to explain their identity(s) or experiences to you
- No one should be made to feel as though they are the resident authority of their respective identities/experiences.
- Ask permission to ask questions about another’s identity and/or experience
Always work towards recognizing your own relationship to power and privilege and how it may differ from others
- Our various intersections of identity color the way we perceive and move through the world. These intersections create a rich array of diverse experiences.
- Keep in mind that what may be a common experience or understanding for you, may not be for others.
